Albury hosted a meeting on October 14, its first since the Gold Cup carnival in late March.
“It was a great day, the track timed out perfect, it ran at a good four,” he said.
“The fields were excellent, the crowd was good, so, yeah, very happy.”
Albury’s $1.2 million refurbishment started in June, 2016.
It was the biggest improvements to the racing surface in its 136-year history.
Albury hosted two meetings during the Gold Cup carnival, but was forced to forgo two meetings in August as its redeveloped track remained off-limits as the grass cover hadn’t sufficiently grown over where the silt drainage had been installed since the carnival.
“The feedback was so good from people that count, the jockeys, trainers, stewards and owners and the fields are looking good,” Wighton said.
