Hovar had a bumper season with Marconi in the NPL in Sydney and was selected as one of 18 players to represent Football NSW at the 2017 Boys National Training Centre (NTC) Challenge at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
The week-long national level tournament was run by Football Federation Australia (FFA) against the best players from across the country, serving as a primary talent identification opportunity for NSW representative teams and various national sides.
It also provides a pathway and opportunity for NSW players to be identified for A-League clubs and the various national youth teams.
As a result of his performances, Hovar will relocate to Sydney to take up a position at the Western Sydney Wanderers Academy for the coming 2017-18 season.
Western Sydney is one of the first A-League clubs to have their academy accredited with two-star status under a new FFA system designed to provide more high-quality coaching to a larger number of talented players.
The academy represents a great opportunity for further football development for Hovar at a higher level.
Hovar will also attend Westfield Sports High as part of the FFA’s pilot program to provide additional training for future prospects supplementing club sessions.
The program targets boys and girls from years 9-12 with the aim of creating training environments to increase the number of football hours.
Action begins at 4.30pm on Saturday with the women’s match, followed by an exhibition from the Miniroos, before kick-off of the highly-anticipated men’s clash, featuring former Socceroo Josh Kennedy, at 7pm.
Entry for the charity game is $5 per person and $10 for a family and full canteen facilities will be available, with all proceeds donated directly back to Headspace, Lifeline and Survivors of Suicide.
