Detective Senior Constable Paul Campbell, of Wangaratta, said an arson squad chemist visited the Buffalo River Road premises later on Friday after the unoccupied older-style home, one of a group nestled together, caught fire mid-morning.

“There doesn’t appear to be any indication or suggestion that it was a deliberately lit fire at this stage,” he said. 

Police investigations are continuing.
