Denise Osborne wants statistics for information sites at Culcairn, Henty, Jindera and Gerogery to be part of a report now being compiled.
“It gives us a fuller picture of visitor information centres in total, not just one in particular,” Cr Osborne said.
“Yes this one (at Holbrook) is affected because it has full-time staff but when you look at a subject such as visitor information centres the report should look at the detail and the expectations.”
The council is reviewing attendance at Holbrook’s visitors’ centre and submarine museum from July 1, 2017 to February 28, 2018 before determining future operating hours.
The move follows a backlash to a proposal to close the centre and museum for two days a week to save money.
Former submarine museum curator Roger Cooper addressed last month’s council meeting on the impact of such a move.
“Closing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays we would forfeit two days takings of approximately $400, seasonally adjusted,” Mr Cooper said.
“Those two days are also our coach groups regular travelling days on their way to Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
“We have five coaches and a local school group booked in for the first 14 days in November.”
Council general manager Steve Pinnuck noted the tourism sector was facing a shake-up, with Wodonga Council closing its information centre last Friday.
Electronic terminals have been installed in Wodonga’s library, shopping plaza, Junction Place and railway station.
