Cupido, who is based at Shepparton, played with Swampie coach Joel Price at North Albury and will be available for the entire season.
He spent time with Bairnsdale and East Burwood this year after starring in Bacchus Marsh’s 2016 premiership under Travis Hodgson.
I’ll be swinging him around and definitely won’t be leaving him inside 50
- Joel Price
Cupido is no stranger to the Hume league after kicking seven goals in a one-off appearance for Price at Howlong in 2016.
Although Cupido is best known for his goal-kicking, Price said he wouldn’t be pigeon-holing the former Essendon and Brisbane Lions player as a forward.
“We all know he can play forward and kick goals, but I’ll be looking to use him through the midfield and across half-back as well,” Price said.
“That’s where he played at North Albury and did well.
“I’ll be swinging him around and definitely won’t be leaving him inside 50.
“He’s keen and excited and to get a guy with his experience is fantastic.”
Cupido, 35, played 53 AFL matches before spending time at many clubs in country Victoria and NSW including North Albury in 2010 and Rumbalara in 2014 and 2015.
Henty has added Cupido, Tim Brook and Price to its playing list and lost Brent Ohlin, Andrew Hill and Rhett Thomson.
In a huge off-season, Matt Seiter (Brock-Burrum), Trent Castles (Jindera), Matt Sharp and Sam Harris (Holbrook) and Steve Jolliffe and Jay Koehler (Howlong) have joined the league.
