Mt Beauty have impressed over the last two seasons, deploying a good mix of veteran savvy and youthful exuberance to upset perennial contenders Kiewa in last year's grand final.
But it hasn't quite gone to plan for them this season – yet.
A close loss to District newcomers Lavington in round one was followed by a win against Kiewa, before a loss to Dederang at home last week.
The Power have the chance to square their record at 2-2 this weekend against another team new to the District competition in Corowa, and coach Ashan Ranaweera says the side isn't far behind the competition leaders.
“We're pretty happy with what we've been doing for the most part,” he said.
“We've had one three run loss, and another nine-run loss, so if we prevent a few little mistakes with the bat our results might have been a bit different.”
Corowa have gotten themselves off to a strong start, winning two of their first three matches.
Ranaweera said the best thing the Power could do this weekend was simply go out and enjoy their game, rather than putting too much pressure on themselves.
“We need to bat with a little more discipline, but other than that we're going alright,” he said.
“We haven't heard too much about Corowa, it's just another game so we have to keep it simple and just play.
“It feels like the competition is fairly even at the moment.
“We're happy with where we're at right now, and I'm confident we can come back towards the top of the ladder.”
In other District matches this weekend, Wodonga face Baranduda at Martin Park, while Howlong are set to take on Eskdale.
Bethanga will be looking to get on the board when they host the undefeated Lavington Panthers, while Dederang are on the hunt for their third win of the season when they take on last year's grand finallists Kiewa at home.
