Sail Country is among the top 10 regattas by entry numbers in Australia with AWYC Commodore Leanne Thomson delighted to attract the event to Lake Hume.
“Sail Country is raising the profile of our region as a top sailing and holiday destination,” Thomson said.
“Up to 1000 sailors and support crews from Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, regional NSW and Victoria, and our own club will gather to enjoy the thrill of lake sailing and the friendly atmosphere.”
The regatta incorporates the Victorian Dinghy Championship, an event with a 30-plus year history that was traditionally conducted by yacht clubs around Port Phillip Bay.
Spectators can watch the action starting from vantage points on Jacksons and Kookaburra Points on the Victorian side of Lake Hume near Bonegilla.
