Jaime Carroll was due to finish with the council on Friday, but has withdrawn her resignation.
“After much deliberation over the past few weeks, I am excited that I’ve made the decision to stay at the Rural City of Wangaratta,” she said.
“I believe we have a very vibrant future ahead for our community and our organisation and I am looking forward to continuing to be part of the council team.”
Ms Carroll had been presented with a large bunch of flowers by councillors at the October meeting and given a round of applause as they paid tribute to her work since starting in the role in 2014.
“Jaime’s an extremely creative woman and we really appreciate the work she’s done over the time she’s been here,” Cr Harry Bussell said.
