Concrete flowed on Monday morning to complete the main slab of a Thurgoona house that will help injured Border sportsman Nick Dempsey.
Nick’s Journey committee member Leanne Luhrs said the project to build and auction the home to raise money for ongoing rehabilitation was progressing well.
The next stage will be wall frames, trusses and roof, depending on the availability of the tradespeople who are donating their time.
“It’s still overwhelming the amount of support that’s coming in, you’re just amazed at people’s generosity and willingness to help for no recognition,” Mrs Luhrs said.
She hoped to reach lock-up by the end of January as part of a 12-month program.
“I’d like to think we could have it on the market for next spring,” Mrs Luhrs said.
