The 33-year-old played his first full game since June in Saturday morning's 0-0 first-leg draw in San Pedro Sula after being plagued by a persistent groin injury. He has been limited to just three short appearance for his club, Aston Villa, this season and forced a five-month absence from the national team. However, in spite of his limited game time, the short turnaround between games, tough conditions in Honduras and lengthy travel, Jedinak appears set to start in the second leg at ANZ Stadium.

Postecoglou has a fully fit and rested Mark Milligan at his disposal but indicated that a potential start for the Melbourne Victory man won't necessarily come at the expense of his captain. Jedinak appears to have recovered from the first leg and Postecoglou says he expects his captain to be available for selection.

"I think so. At the end [of the first game against Honduras] he felt it as you'd expect but he played it pretty smart, he knows his body well now, he didn't waste energy. I'd be very surprised if he didn't put his hand up as being ready to go knowing him and his character," Postecoglou said. "When you're at home you get a bit of an adrenaline rush anyway that carries you through so I see no reason why he can't back up."

Milligan was suspended for the first leg and is one of three players who did not travel to Central America for the first leg but are available for the home clash on Wednesday night. It's likely that all three will play with Postecoglou suggesting there's Milligan and Jedinak can be paired together in the midfield.

"There's no reason why they can't play together. Same with Mass [Luongo], Jackson [Irvine], Aaron [Mooy] - we've consistently tweaked the midfield area for them to be able to play more than one position. Millsy can certainly do that, he's played a number of positions," he said.

Matt Leckie (suspension) and Robbie Kruse (knee injury) are the other two rested and available and the latter has overcome his fitness concerns and is available to play against Honduras.

"Kruse is fine, he has been training, he feels good so he'll train with everyone else today and tomorrow," Postecoglou said.

After enduring what many players have described as the worst field they've played on throughout their arduous World Cup qualifying campaign, the Socceroos coach has concerns the pitch at ANZ Stadium won't be up to standard. The venue has been working hard to restore the state of the playing surface after holding a monster trucks event on the ground just three weeks ago.

"I haven't seen the pitch yet but I've got some concerns. From what I've seen so far, the images I've seen, it wasn't as good a condition as it was against Syria. There were monster trucks on there," he said.

It's understood Wednesday's game will attract a crowd of about 75,000 at ANZ Stadium, with more than 60,000 already sold.
