The staff recommendation to approve the planning permit subject to 10 conditions including operating hours for the summer holiday period, Easter and Anzac Day will be presented to councillors on Wednesday and follows a community forum in Yarrawonga this week attended by more than 50 people.
They included traders, representatives from the proposed food truck park and councillors.
Yarrawonga-based councillor Peter Mansfield declined to comment as did Belmore Street trader Vicki Bye.
If approved, the food truck park will be set up between Hunt and Witt streets and be situated 20 metres from the Lake Mulwala foreshore and less than 200 metres from the Yarrawonga main street.
Last summer Moira Shire approved 18 food trucks to be set-up on the foreshore over five days under staff delegation.
The food trucks want to return under a revamped format including less trucks, but for a longer period.
They want to provide “high-end food” and not compete with existing Yarrawonga fast food outlets.
Also, there will be two bars and a large television screen with 60 car parking spaces also to be created.
Proposed hours of operation are 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 11pm on Sunday.
Also, noon to to 11pm on Anzac Day and and Good Friday.
The food truck park plans to open initially open on December 20 and close January 18, but shut Christmas Day.
The proposal doesn’t include a liquor licence, but the intention is to apply for a temporary licence.
The prospect of an appeal to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal if council rejects the planning application is also mentioned in the report.
A food truck event is also being proposed by the SS&A Club in Albury between Christmas and New Year with council to make a call on the development application this month.
