Hargreaves was one of the Panthers’ most consistent players this year and will slot into a midfield which has already been bolstered by the addition of Chris and Jeremy Duck.
The Giants are one of several clubs to make inroads on the recruiting front over the off-season with coach Myles Aalbers keen to build on their impressive finish to the year.
“Sam’s played some good Ovens and Murray footy and is going to be a big help in the middle and around the flanks,” Aalbers said.
Hargreave played 20 senior matches this season and was in the best on eight occasions.
Meanwhile, Brendan I’Anson has taken over as president of the Hume league.
He replaced league stalwart Merv Wegener at the league’s annual general meeting earlier this week with Phil Bouffler stepping up as vice-president.
