After being in preliminary discussions with Wahgunyah, Power have opted against rushing into a decision with the Hume league draw to be released in the next fortnight.
“A merger is off the table at the moment,” club president Chris Scott said.
“Something has to give but we just need clear air for 2018.
“We will sit back and take a breath and still talk to Wahgunyah, Corowa-Rutherglen, Bilabong Crows, AFL North-East Border and NSW-AFL and see what we can work out for the future.
“It was all just happening a bit quickly especially with a lot of our people starting harvest.”
Scott said CDHBU would field senior, reserve and under-14 sides and is hopeful the decision will encourage more volunteers to get involved with the club.
The Power are also likely to have a full complement of netball teams with the possible exception of C reserve.
“We have a bit of work to do but everyone is keen,” Scott said.
“It’s important we are positive about 2018 while at the same time looking at our options for the future.”
CDHBU joined the Hume league from the Coreen and District league in 2008 along with Coleambally, Rennie and Billabong Crows and have been the most successful of those clubs in the competition.
Jeremy Stevenson and Mick Collins have been re-appointed as co-coaches of CDHBU with North Albury brothers Liam and Callum Butler signing as recruits last month.
