The boat, which was officially unveiled to the public on Saturday, is a custom built fast-response vessel, capable of reaching speeds up to 38 knots.
Local commander Andrew Reaburn said with another busy summer right around the corner, the new kit was a welcome boost for morale.
“Time is of the essence when we respond to a call-out, be it for drowning or hypothermia or anything else,” he said.
“This craft has radar fitted, it can pick up anything that’s in the water, it can pick up traces of heat or any obstructions as well.”
With summer fast approaching, Mr Reaburn also urged people to get their boat license before hitting the water.
