Knowing this, her friends and family had mercy and voted for the former challenge through Edge Pledge, a national environmental fundraising platform.
Ms Bertoncini raised almost $800 for squirrel glider conservation and walked for two hours on Monday to the TAFE NSW National Environment Centre, where she is an education support officer.
“I was hoping that challenge would win the vote, because I like walking and it was a way to increase exposure – I had a lot of people honking,” she said.

Ms Bertoncini hoped her challenge would encourage others to support the Albury Conservation Company.
“There needs to be more education and I want Thurgoona residents to feel they have ownership, because it’s an amazing place,” she said.
