And the 20-year old will hit The Australian Golf Club in fine form on Thursday after winning Monday’s pre-qualifying event at Sydney’s Carnarvon’s course with a blistering five-under par round of 67.
It follows his tie for 14th in the NSW Open on Sunday.
Murray made the cut in last year’s national event, finishing on three-over, one ahead of US PGA Tour winner Craig Parry.
The tall right-hander was one of nine amateurs to fill the 10 spots available for the Australian Open at the three qualifying events in Sydney.
Fellow amateur John Lyras shot three-under to win at Ryde-Parramatta, while Haydn Barron fired four-under at Liverpool.
Murray will carry confidence into Australia’s most prestigious event after firing four successive rounds under par in the NSW Open.
He blasted a superb six-under 66 on the second day.
