Some federal MPs reacted angrily when Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced Parliament would be delayed a week until December 4 to address same-sex marriage laws.
An outraged Kennedy MP Bob Katter had threatened to convene something akin to an insurgent Parliament with Labor, the Greens and others.
He said he had spoken with Labor about turning up to Canberra on Monday anyway, as long as the other independent crossbenchers agreed.
"Parliament will sit. We will form Parliament, we'll appoint a speaker, and we will proceed," Mr Katter said.
"And if the Liberal Party don't want to be there, that is their choice. But we will pass the laws of the land on Monday."
He did not have the support of Indi’s independent MP.
“I will be at work in my Wodonga office on Monday," Ms McGowan said.
“When Parliament resumes on December 4, I will give my full attention to important legislation including marriage equality and citizenship matters.
“I understand the confusion the change of Parliament sitting dates is causing. As always I welcome people getting in touch with my office with their concerns.”
She said her focus next week would include the topics of include trains, mobile phones, NBN, higher education and regional development.
