Boys has secured enough backing to drive the same Dragon Racing V8 Commodore he drove at Sandown and Bathurst in the Supercars Grand Finale at Newcastle’s new street track which winds its way through the city.

Boys has grabbed two top-10 finishes in his first two drives in the Supercar development series.

“It’s my first time on a true street track, so I haven’t had the experience of being so close to concrete walls,” Boys said.

“There were a few at Bathurst which helps, but this is much more intense.

“The track looks pretty tight in spots but I don’t know what to expect actually, but I can’t wait.

”The good guys don’t drive any differently regardless of the walls – that’s the difference to getting good lap times, and that’s the way I’m going to try and go into the weekend.”

With this being Boys’ third race in the Caltex and Joss-backed Super 2 Commodore, it should help him find  pace earlier than at previous events.

“It’s different to drive from the Kumho V8; not much more outright power but it just handles so much better,” he said.

“It’s good to be getting more experience in the car and while its still fairly new to me, at least I’ve had some time it and know what to expect.

“It will be a challenging weekend.

”But I’m looking forward to it all.”
