Senator Dastyari will meet the public in the Zed Bar courtyard between 1pm and 3pm, a change of time from the original schedule, as part of his politics in the pub series.
Albury Labor spokesman Darren Cameron said the Harold Mair Dinner would now be held next year.
“We tried to make it fit in with Sam’s availability, but … it’s just not practical at this time of year,” he said.
“It was just too tight a time frame, three weeks is not long enough to organise such an event.”
Earlier this month, Senator Dastyari was racially abused in a Melbourne pub, but Mr Cameron felt Albury was “a pretty tolerant place”.
“Everyone’s entitled to attend, but everyone’s required to behave,” he said.
