The Wodonga site currently has a clinic for health services, working in conjunction with the Albury-Wodonga Health Centre at Latchford Barracks at Bonegilla.
The Department of Defence issued a statement to The Border Mail, confirming the planned works.
“Defence is planning the construction of new and upgraded health facilities at 13 locations around Australia, including Bandiana, Victoria, as part of the Joint Health Command Garrison Health Facilities Upgrade Project,” a spokesperson said.
“Subject to Parliamentary approval of the project, construction is expected to commence in mid-2018 and be completed at all sites by mid-2020.”
Wodonga Council had not been notified of the project, announced just after mayor Anna Speedie told a Parliamentary inquiry she hoped for an improvement in communication from the Department of Defence.
