Smith rated his selection for the Newcastle and Central Coast match as one of the highlights of his 19-year career.
“It’s exciting,” Smith said.
“I would say it’s right up there with the highest standard games I’ve done.
“I’m looking forward to it.
“It was good to be recognised.”
Smith, who has umpired four Sydney first grade matches, officiated in the Australian Country Championships at Bundoora.
Sunday’s 50-over match starts at 10am.
Smith has taken charge of nine CAW grand finals and is one of the most respected officials on the Border.
Former CAW umpire Keiran Knight is also umpiring in Sydney and took charge of the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars clash at Lavington Sportsground last year.
