ORGANISERS of the Tour of Bright face losing $15,000 due to their bicycle race being cancelled.

The event was due to run from Friday to Sunday but was halted due to the forecast storms.

To recoup the money, the Alpine Cycling Club has set up a GoFundMe page and as of 6pm on Sunday night had raised nearly $7000.

Costs already incurred related to traffic management, race bibs, the hiring of various items and roadside barriers.

More than 700 cyclists were expected to compete.
