MPs to speak from their hearts in same-sex marriage debate

A vote to legalise same-sex marriage is expected to happen in Parliament this week, after MPs began making their arguments in the House of Representatives on Monday.

“To same-sex couples in Australia, you are equal, you are respected, you are loved,” Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said.

Farrer MP Sussan Ley is expected to speak on Tuesday afternoon when the debate resumes for a second day, while Indi MP Cathy McGowan is likely to get her turn late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
