Dylan Lee Garsed was on parole and banned from the roads until December 2018 when he tried to outrun police.
Officers spotted the 29-year-old Corowa man, who has never held a licence, in a grey Hyundai Accent on Sanger Street on May 18.
A passenger got in about 11.20am and Garsed drove off.
Police weren’t in a position to stop the car, which was later found in Vera Street.
Police seized the plates but the car was later spotted with different plates on Hay Street.
Garsed drove past the police officers, who activated their lights, and sped off onto the wrong side of the road and entered Redlands Road.
He failed to give way to a bus outside Corowa High School, causing the driver to slam on the brakes to avoid a crash.
Other cars also took action to avoid collisions.
Police decided the incident, which occurred about 3.20pm, was too dangerous and called off the chase.
They applied to revoke Garsed’s parole and he was arrested.
Police said he has a “blatant disregard for authority”.
Albury magistrate Tony Murray recently said the 29-year-old had put those near the school in danger.
“Put yourself in the position of the parents … how would you feel?” he said.
Mr Murray said he hoped Garsed would one day realise it’s a “complete waste of your life being in custody”.
“Unfortunately, you might be a slow learner,” he said.
He jailed Garsed until December 22 which will be followed by seven months’ parole, and banned him from driving until 2020.
