This is the second dog park in Albury in the last 18 months, and they are huge.
The highlight of the day was free microchipping, free registration and discounted desexing for residents of Albury. Wodonga Council has never offered free anything to dog owners since I have been in the area, and the only dog park in Wodonga wasn't even put there by the council.
Wodonga residents pay $73.50 every year to register an animal that has not been desexed, and fines are horrendous. And what do we get for it?

Don’t demonise boys
I wrtie regarding a televison advertisement I have seen concerning domestic violence.
The ad in question shows a young boy slamming a door which causes a young girl to drop a tray of food and then she says, “It’s OK mum, it’s what boys do”. In another version of the advertisement the adult woman says “It’s because he likes you”.
Just how many boys are they suggesting behave like this? Surely not all boys.
Do the makers of this advertisement really have evidence that confirms that is what boys do and does that same evidence also confirm that boys treat the girls they “like” in such a nasty way?
Wouldn't it be better if the emphasis was on ways of uniting boys and girls to try to eliminate any violence instead of demonising young boys? It seems to me that this type of advertisement could have girls growing up and seeing boys as the enemy rather than an ally in the anti-violence campaign.
It seemed also that the people featured in the ad were white … does this mean that only white boys will be guilty of domestic violence? And is it really only boys who might act badly and be violent?

Look after volunteers
Summer has started and with that comes peak fire season. This summer is set to be hotter than average and some parts of Victoria have already faced fires.
The bill to break up the CFA sits stalled in the Parliament with the government continuing to fuel much uncertainty for the CFA and its 60,000 volunteers who protect regional communities.
Now more than ever, it is crucial that the fire services issue be resolved in a timely manner, but what we have seen from the Andrews Labor Government is a failure to do so.
The Premier declared months ago that he had fixed the issue, but after endless debate and discussion, this issue has not been resolved and is worse than ever.
After a rushed select committee on the issue, the government now refuses to bring the legislation to the Parliament, as it has been sitting on the notice paper for months and is not looking like being debated in Parliament anytime soon.
The government knows this legislation treats volunteers unfairly. Our CFA volunteers are often the last line of defence when fires come bearing down on our communities, our families and our homes.
The CFA volunteers who protect our lives and homes deserve our respect and our communities deserve to feel safe during fire season.
