Max McCardle was runner-up with 64, while a group of five, including the tournament’s big three in Marcus Fraser, Richard Green and David Bransdon, had 65.
Officials were blown away when Corowa’s Fraser and fellow European Tour player Green entered.
“It’s certainly the strongest field for Albury and probably the strongest field we’ve had for the entire Victorian series this year,” tournament coordinator Heath McLeod said of the event.
“It’s great to have guys like that playing at a local level like this event, it’s not that long ago ago when Marcus won the prestigious Malaysian Open.
“For them to decide to travel up to Albury, it’s fantastic for the town and fantastic for the event.”
Both Fraser and Green have won three times on the European Tour, which is considered just behind the lucrative US PGA Tour.
Green has been ranked in the world’s top 30 during his career.
