A reverse vending machine for cans and bottles was dropped into the car park of the Union Road business on Thursday morning.
Electricians were working on the unit on Thursday, but it is not expected to be operating until next week.
It is the second machine to be installed in Albury, with the first at the Springdale Heights IGA commencing on December 1 when the 10-cent container return scheme began.
Norris Park IGA proprietor Gary Evans said he had spoken to Springdale Heights owner Bob Mathews about his frustrations with the scheme.
However, Mr Evans is upbeat about it being welcomed at his store and operating smoothly.
“I spoke to Bob and listened to him and we’ve changed a few things, so hopefully it will flow through,” he said.
“We’ve got a pretty good deal on it.
“My biggest concern is the rubbish side, but we’ll have a big bin next to it.
“We will get on to Cleanaway, if it needs to be emptied twice a day then so be it.
“I’m quietly confident it will work okay and in six months it will be like it’s never happened.”
Mr Evans said only Norris Park IGA machine receipts, rather than those from Springdale Heights, will be accepted at his store.
He first approached contractor TOMRA-Cleanaway four to six weeks ago.
