Campuses the region over were in a celebratory mood as students could finally turn their attention to their plans for 2018 – be it continuing on to university, finding work or planning a gap year.
That planning was temporarily put on the backburner for most students though, with relief at their marks finally being revealed taking over.
Albury High School trio Mahnee Przibilla, Lucy Nagle and Neave Kapoor (the school's DUX) united to celebrate together on Friday.
After getting their individual HSC marks 24 hours earlier, the trio said there were a few mixed emotions now that the door was fully closed on their time at school, but that they were more ready than ever before to tackle their next challenges.
“I'm feeling pretty good – exhilarated, happy it's all over, but mostly proud as well,” Miss Nagle said.
“Everyone has done really well to make it through, it's amazing that it's all finally over.”
Miss Kapoor is planning on moving away to begin studies in medicine after achieving an ATAR of 97.
The second round of December NSW university offers will be released on December 21.
“I'm thinking of a few med courses, bio-medicine, but I'll have to look at the offers and go from there,” she said.
Wodonga Senior Secondary College DUX Bailey Cardwell decided to sleep in on Friday morning, so he and his friends could check their results together.
He has also been drawn to the world of medicine, planning to study bio-medicine and move into medical research down the line.
A gruelling gamut of physics, chemistry and high-level mathematics set him up for his high score.
His advice for the class of 2018?
Be prepared.
“I'd tell them to get stuck in early, practice, and don't let yourself be run down,” Mr Cardwell said.
“Your teachers are always going to be there to help you, and to make sure you look after yourself.”
