Bartram made the most of her return to Albury for the festive season by hosting clinics for young goalkeepers within Hockey Albury-Wodonga this week.
The Hockeyroos’ shot stopper is very passionate about coaching and hopes she can help produce the next generation of stars from the region.
“I’ve done a little bit of coaching here and there during the year, so I thought it would be nice to give something back to the hockey community in Albury-Wodonga and help the younger goalkeepers of the area out,” Bartram said.
“We focused more on the technical side of goalkeeping and things they might not get from their coaches here.
“A few of the local coaches came down to hear where goalkeeping is at national level at the moment and what things are being encouraged, so they were also aware of it and could feed it back to their clubs.
“I tried to do things they may not have been taught before and encouraged them to keep developing and growing as goalkeepers.”
Access to high-level coaching was limited in Bartram’s younger years and is something she was eager to change.
“I love to give back to the hockey community, particularly here in Albury,” she said.
“They've given me so much over the years in regards to coaching, and their overall support as a community has encouraged me to keep pushing to do what I’ve now done, which is play for the Hockeyroos.”
