Domain Group has analysed online listings data to find out which properties racked up the most internet love in 2017.
Unsurprisingly, the top five most viewed listings were the Elsternwick townhouses featured on the latest season of Channel Nine renovation show The Block.
But excluding the five Block houses from the list, the most-clicked listings on Domain were a mixed bag this year. A regional delight came in first, followed by an epic coastal stunner, a quaint metropolitan cottage and then an opulent modern creation.
While we can’t know what exactly leads each viewer to the online page, it would appear many of us have rather expensive taste.
1. 665 Gillies Road, Sulky
It’s not hard to see why tens of thousands of people wanted to see more of this stunning estate, located just north of Ballarat.
Set on 25 acres, the spectacular property offers a rural lifestyle with all the modern creature comforts you could want.
Highlights include a championship tennis court, pool, gym, bike track, inground trampoline (seriously?) and kids’ playground (complete with a cubby house). Let’s not forget the enormous five-bedroom, three-bathroom house to boot!
The best news? It’s still on the market and can be all yours – if you can scrounge together $2.05 million.
2. 4 Denistoun Avenue, Mount Eliza
Rivalling a five-star resort, the property features chandeliers, open fire places, a heated infinity pool, a poolside cabana kitted out with a bar and kitchen, a tennis court, billiards room, show room with (another) cocktail bar and there’s even a visitor’s parking lot.
The lavish five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home — set on a 1.5 acre estate with uninterrupted views over Pelican Point on the Mornington Peninsula — is thought to have sold mid year for $12.4 million.
3. 32 Downshire Road, Elsternwick
The enchanting Edwardian looks like it came straight from the pages of a fairy tale.
Its endearing white picket frontage captured the interest of property fans online before it sold at auction for $2,575,000 in April.
4. 6 Benson Avenue, Toorak
Opulent. Modern. Grandeur. Avant-garde. We could keep going. There are many adjectives that could be used to describe this huge $10.4 million mansion that really evokes scenes of LA’s Beverly Hills.

5. 38 Cromwell Road, South Yarra
Who doesn’t love a sticky beak into the home of a celebrity couple? Actor Madeleine West and chef Shannon Bennett listed their pad up for sale just a few months ago.
West previously said it was a “sanctuary” for the couple and their six young children. It sold for close to $10 million at a private auction last month.
6. 43 Gore Street, Fitzroy
Built circa 1854, the decadent Gore Street residence set a new price record for Fitzroy when it sold under the hammer in June for $4.9 million. A charming internal courtyard connected the original house to a contemporary three-storey extension.
7. 126 Sackville Street, Kew
The traditional Edwardian frontage leads to a remastered contemporary residence that boasts five bedrooms, five bathrooms, formal sitting room, concealed powder room, home cinema, multiple entertaining spaces and a tasting room with 1500-bottle cellar.
It sold for $8.5 million in May.
8. 25 Merton Street, Albert Park
Set within one of Melbourne’s most prestigious bayside pockets, the four-bedroom renovated Victorian was scooped up in September for an undisclosed sum.
9. 10 Glasshouse Street, Richmond
Many of us are suckers for a good warehouse conversion, even more so when its exterior is covered with lush green vines. In a nod to its industrial origins, the home features polished concrete floors and vaulted ceilings.
This urban haven went to auction in March and fetched a cool $3,165,000.
10. 2 Lascelles Street, Coburg
Before they shot to fame on the latest season of The Block, Josh Barker and Elyse Knowles finished their first personal reno project in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
The young couple proved to be crowd favourites on television, and hundreds of fans turned out to see this Californian bungalow sell at auction for $1,631,000 in November.
