A STOCK agent has been remembered as a respected stockman, husband and father after his death at a property in Georges Creek.

Mr McKimmie had been associated with Paull and Scollard for 30 years and was well known and respected in the industry.
Managing director Stephen Paull said thoughts were with his family and friends.
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of a fine stockman, husband and father,” he said.
“Nick was a close friend to many of us and was highly respected in the industry for his professionalism and integrity.”
The father-of-three was born in the Corryong region before moving to the Border.
He lived in Tallangatta and was around cattle his entire life.
Kevin Corcoran worked alongside Mr McKimmie when they were both junior agents.
“It’s very sad, extremely sad,” he said.
“It must have been a freak accident.
“He was very astute with all of his stock handling and was a mentor to the young people around him with the way he went about his business.”
Mr Corcoran said it would be a struggle to find another agent with a bad word to say about him.
“That’s a testament to who the guy was,” he said.
“He was highly regarded and was involved in the local communities in Tallangatta and the Mitta Valley.
“We’re all very saddened.
“You can only feel for his family.”
Trent Boers had known Mr McKimmie his entire life and had always looked up to him.
“He was pretty genuine and upfront – you knew where you stood with him,” he said.
“That’s all you can ask from a bloke really.”
Mr Boers had been shocked by Thursday’s news.
“We’ve lost a couple of really good local agents in him and Trevor Parker in recent years,” he said.
“Both were doing the job they loved too.
“We hope we don’t see much more of it.
“Accidents happen … wrong place wrong time.
“It could happen to any of us.”
Mr Boers said his death was a big loss for the Tallangatta region.
“It’s not overly populated with agents,” he said.
“He was the mainstay for about 30-odd years.”
Mr Corcoran said Mr McKimmie had started his career at the Gippsland and Northern Co-Operative, aged about 18 or 19.
He was married to wife Sharon.
Details of his funeral will be announced at a later date.
