Mr Hickling has been fascinated by storms for as long as he can remember, and has been chasing them for about 25 years.
“I mostly just love getting out there and seeing nature at its best,” he said on Tuesday.
Mr Hickling was out on Monday night from 8.30pm until 2am on Tuesday morning, capturing the above image from Great Southern Road at Chiltern.
At one point, as he was positioned between two storm cells, lightning struck about 100 metres from him.
“It lit me up, it lit everyting up,” he said. “It certainly got the adrenaline going.”
