Hockey Albury-Wodonga has announced the men’s and women’s Spitfires’ teams will return to the Canberra Capital League.
“The teams were reluctantly withdrawn at the beginning of 2017 and did not participate in last year’s competition,” HAW director of representative hockey Chantel Lavis said.
“During 2017 our focus was on rebuilding and recruiting.
“This has been a major success and we are now ready to participate in 2018.”
HAW played at representative level in Melbourne for many years before joining the powerful ACT competition.
The nation’s capital is 340 kilometres from Albury-Wodonga, around 30 more than Melbourne.
Jeremy Payne and Tony Donnolley will coach the men, while Jerry Sutherland will mentor the women.
The season starts April 7.
