A cold front overnight brought sub zero temperatures to both mountains, allowing summer snow to form and fall in the alps.
Temperatures dipped below zero early Sunday morning and locals woke to the first snowfalls of 2018, a bit earlier than expected.
A minimum of 1 degree was predicted for Falls Creek on Monday. Mount Hotham was also expected to stay above freezing, with a low of one expected on Monday.
