One of Jonathan Robert Vandersluis’ latest acts behind the wheel as a banned driver was particularly curious, as his passenger held a valid driving permit.
The 36-year-old North Albury man is banned until December 18, 2029, having been caught without a licence more than 10 times.
He was recently released from jail for unlicensed driving offences, but still jumped into a car on September 23.
Police spotted him in the vehicle as he travelled east on Union Road about 6.20pm and nearly hit an oncoming car.
They activated their lights and Vandersluis swapped seats as the car slowly rolled to a stop.
Officers shined a light into the vehicle and noticed he was panting and shaking, with items spilled where he had swapped positions.
He again came to police attention last Wednesday while speeding.
Police had taken false number plates from his mother the day before, but Vandersluis still drove her car.
He was spotted in Thurgoona about 6.20pm and was followed by an unmarked police car as he reached speeds of about 120km/h in an 80km/h zone.
He sped from Riverboat Drive into Corrys Road, Elizabeth Mitchell Drive, Fallon Street and Calimo Street, before quickly parking the car at his Swan Street home and dumping the keys.
He claimed he wasn’t driving, but police pointed out they had followed him for several kilometres.
Vandersluis appeared before Albury Local Court on Friday where he admitted to the offences.
The matter will return on February 27, with the North Albury man to remain in custody.
