The Englishman has worked with goalkeepers around the world and was very impressed with this year’s Premier Football Tuition (PFT) group in Albury.
“A lot of goalkeepers have been in the program for three or four years, so the big difference I found this time was we weren’t having to do a great deal other than fine tune the technical detail,” Steele said.
“The whole purpose of this trip was to take the training into a different level and make it more about decision-making.
“The boys and girls have really taken to it and you could see the improvement over the two days.
“It’s testament to the work that is being done at ground level here in Albury.”
Steele admitted the goalkeepers must learn to be adept both in and out of possession.
“Out of possession they've got to defend the goal, defend their area, but they've also got to be a major part of the team when they're in possession,” he said.
“We want to leave that with them so they can take that into their individual games and next time they meet up with the coaches, we can register how much they've improved and take the session to another level again.”
