It was revealed last year that Saputo had bought the company, including its Kiewa dairy factory.
Murray Goulburn has 25 trading stores, including four in the North East at Kiewa, Wangaratta, Corryong and Eskdale. It also has stores in Cobram and Finley.
“All MG’s operating assets were included in the proposed sale to Saputo unless MG has sold MG Trading prior to completion,” a co-op spokesperson said.
“MG does not currently have any formal sale process underway in relation to MG Trading. Upon completion, if MG Trading is not sold, Saputo will purchase the MG Trading stores.”
The spokesperson said responses by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Foreign Investment Review Board to Saputo’s bid would help decide when a shareholder meeting would be held.
