Everton teenager Meg Newton, who dances with Projection Dance School, was named the winner of the junior category in the Australasian Ballet Challenge in Wodonga on Sunday evening.
Noah Esplana from Corowa was also named among the junior finalists, with his sister Ainslea a sub-junior finalist and Albury’s Molly Parnell one of the six senior finalists.
They were all among the 90 dancers to participate in the final gala dance in front of a full house at The Cube.
Event organiser Jennifer Podesta said the dancers also had the opportunity to get coaching from the four judges, who were all currently working in the industry.
“We are really conscious to make it a great learning experience,” she said.
“It’s just special to see all these kids who all do ballet – they have this common language where they can all come together.”
