The home team suffered a 47-run loss to T20 powerhouse Buckley Ridges.
“From a club point of view and probably competition point of view, for us to get better at that format of the game, we probably need to play a little bit more,” Jackson said.
“In saying that, the fundamentals of cricket were off in certain areas with the ball and particularly in the field.
“And with our batting, we just couldn’t seem to find the boundary at crucial times.”
CAW uses three formats at club level.
The first weekend comprises two T20 games, followed by 10 one-day games.
The regular season is rounded off with four two-day matches.
The three weeks of finals are all two-dayers.
At rep level, the Border Bullets play a minimum of three T20 games with a maximum of five if they were to win the NSW statewide competition.
“I’d probably think five or six might be a good number,” Jackson said.
“I think the powers at be, ‘Erdels’ (CAW chairman Michael Erdeljac) are looking at getting that calendar and balance right.
“I think the way cricket’s going, T20 is the direction cricket’s going and I think we need to keep up with it.
“Maybe the first couple of weekends we could play a couple of double headers, you could possibly play five or six and, all of a sudden, we get better.”
