Jackson will join the SEABL club in March with a view to pushing his case to make an NBL roster.
He has spent time as a development player with the Perth Wildcats and Cairns Taipans as well as having stints with the Gladstone Power and Cairns Marlins in the Queensland Basketball League.
Bandits coach Brad Chalmers is looking forward to the 24-year-old’s arrival.
“Having Tevin agree to play with us for the season is exciting for the group and keeps us moving in the right direction for 2018,” Chalmers said.
“Tevin sees the SEABL competition as a great opportunity to keep testing himself and, his recent time within the Taipans organisation, should help prepare him nicely for the challenges ahead.
“I think adding someone like him stays with our focus to add a little more length and athleticism to the group.
“He fits with the direction and style we are trying to play and it also gives us another quality player in which to work with, plus smarts and ability to play both ends of the floor.”
Originally from Perth, Jackson played in the Western Australia state system as a youngster before moving to the US and joining McNeese State University.
He averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 19 matches for the Cairns Marlins last year.
The Bandits were keen to lure him to Lauren Jackson Sports Centre after being impressed with his ability to play inside and outside and move well in transition.
His arrival comes only days after talented powerful forward Darcy Harding announced he would be joining former Albury-Wodonga Bandits player Joel Spear at the Diamond Valley Eagles.
The Bandits will take a new-look list into this season with Jackson, imports Lamar Mallory and Rashad Hassan, Daniel Sepokas, Chris Thompson, Bailey Lloyd, Broady Mills, Mitch Donovan (development player), Blake Mills (development player), Harry Gibbs (development player) and Will Bowden (development player) coming on board.
TJ Robinson, JT Terrell, Harding, Spear, Mitch Newton, Kailou George and Josh Morgan have departed.
The Lady Bandits have picked up Emilee Harmon, Kristi Mokube, Molly Rice, Meg Quinn and Sarah Mellington and lost Adijat Adams, Toccara Ross, Steph Gorman and Jovana Bukvic.
The SEABL season starts on April 6, with the Bandits hosting Frankston in men’s and women’s clashes the following day.
