After contesting the final three events of the Supercars’ development series last year, including a 250-kilometre race on the Bathurst 1000 weekend, Boys will continue his progression through the ranks of Australian motorsport in 2018.
The 20-year-old Albury apprentice mechanic will continue to work alongside the crew at Image Racing, based in Gippsland, starting with the season opener on the streets of Adelaide from March 1-4.
“I’m looking forward to being able to build off what I learnt last year and having the same crew and a very similar car around me should be good for achieving some reasonable results,” Boys said.
“It (last year) was super-tough, but at the same time you’re living out your childhood dream.
“It was a really exciting couple of months for me, but it’s now more looking towards trying to achieve results.
“Last year was really about learning whatever I could, it didn’t really matter about the results as long as I was continually learning.
“I’ll go into this year with a little bit of a different focus, but at the same time I’ve still got a lot to learn.
“I’ll keep chipping away at it and if we can pick up some top-10s along the way, we’ll be happy.”

Boys is confident he can get plenty out of his Commodore, especially with the experienced Jack Perkins driving it last year.
“It gave me a pretty good yardstick of where I should be up to, but I think it’s all about consistently moving forward,” Boys said.
“The end game is to try get into Supercars one day, so I’ve just got to keep marching towards that goal.”
Boys has a test day with the car at Winton Motor Raceway in the middle of February, before heading to Adelaide for round one.
“It’s a pretty intimidating way to start the year with such a high-speed street circuit, but at the same time, I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Boys said.
“I’ve never been to Adelaide, but the back end of 2017 there was Bathurst and Newcastle, which were both tight tracks and relatively high-speed in spots.”
The Super 2 series consists of seven events, starting at Adelaide, before racing at Symmons Plains, Perth, Townsville, Sandown, Bathurst and Newcastle.
