AN auctioneers’ award will be named in memory of Ray White veteran Tony Fountain, who died on Monday after a suspected stroke.

The former Border resident was 72 years old. His colleagues at Ray White Mittagong said he suffered a stroke on Saturday, and quietly slipped away, surrounded by his family.
“You will be greatly missed Tony, such a character with always a story to tell, constantly making us laugh. You certainly lived life to the fullest,” they wrote online.
Mr Fountain was prominent in auction circles across the country, having represented Ray White for 30 years.
He is said to have played a key role in developing Ray White’s auction presence in NSW in 1988.
He served a number of terms as National President of the Australian Democrats in the early 1990s and appear as a keynote speaker at Conferences across the world.
Mr Fountain was known as the "Flying Gabble" in his early years for his practice of flying his light aircraft to auctions across regional Australia.
He and late wife Di moved to Albury in the 1980s and ran the Fountain Real Estate agency.
Mr Fountain is survived by his partner Sam Hudson, step-daughter Emily, daughter Kylie and husband Kevin, son Jason and wife Paula, and son Kurt and wife Josie.
He had two granddaughters, Charlotte and Sybella.
