The NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal had advocated lower fares in regional areas after an investigation last year.
Under the changes, a single-ticket trip between Lavington and Albury will drop from $4 to $3.40 for a full fare and $2 to $1.70 for a concession.
Martin’s bus service chief David Martin, whose company provides trips across Albury, hopes the reductions will bolster passenger numbers.
The changes also apply to the services provided in Albury by Wodonga-based Dyson.
It will be the first time since February 2015 there has been a change to fares.
NSW Nationals leader and Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the decision was about providing equity between regional areas and Sydney.
“This is in line with the expectation that we have as a government that everyone should have equal and affordable access transport no matter where you live in NSW,” he said.
The government is continuing to examine other IPART recommendations including a ticketing system that would apply from Wodonga to Lavington.
