Wodonga helper Riley Briese recognised by Victorian premier Daniel Andrews as best volunteer in state

WODONGA’S Riley Briese has won $10,000 and the crown of Premier’s Volunteer of the Year for his work with transgender youths.

Daniel Andrews presented Mr Briese, 20, with the award on Sunday at a ceremony at Government House in Melbourne.

“Full praise to Riley for giving young transgender people a lifeline,” Mr Andrews said.

Mr Briese, who works for Gateway Health Gender Service, received $10,000 for the charity of his choice and the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Trophy.
