McNeil made 100 in the side’s comfortable win over Footscray at Merv Hughes Oval on Saturday to take his season’s run tally to 488.
He scored his maiden century for the club against Northcote last season.
“It was good fun,” McNeil said.
“I pretty much played second fiddle to Tom Rogers who made 140.
“The most important thing is that we won the game and we’re in the top eight with two rounds remaining.”
McNeil is in his second season as skipper of Melbourne University.
His teammate Liam Scammell also played a major role in the win, taking 4-15.
Holbrook’s Steve Taylor is enjoying another fine season for Northcote, with the Ryder Medallist having scored 508 runs.
Wangaratta’s Simon Hill has made 454 runs for Camberwell.
