Wall to Wall Festival artistic director Shaun Hossack said 20 artists would change the urban landscape of Benalla during the Labour Day long weekend from March 9 to 12.
“The town of Benalla is going to be transformed over the next few months as some of the most talented street artists in the world come to regional Victoria,” Mr Hossack said.
“This is by far the best festival we have curated yet and visitors are in for a real surprise with some of the works that will be on display.
“I am incredibly excited to have so many local artists painting alongside artists from Kuala Lumpur, New York, the Bay Area as well as across the country .
“It is great exposure for these artists and it shows that local artists can compete alongside the best in the world.”
Benalla artist Tim Bowtell said the festival had a magical impact on his hometown.
“I love this time of year where Benalla awakens and the streets are transformed into something really special,” he said.
“It’s one big open air studio for all to enjoy.
“Being a local artist is a huge bonus because not only do I get to do my art alongside some of the great street artists, but I then get to enjoy and be inspired by the gems left behind by the artists.
“The Wall to Wall Festival has changed what it means to be an artist in Benalla and we are developing a reputation as a world-class street art hub.”
Among the festival highlights Callum Preston will recreate an operational, life-size milk bar at the Benalla Art Gallery.
MILK BAR will be an immersive experience, which will transform the main room of the gallery.
Dvate will paint a mural on a silo just outside of Benalla at Goorambat as part of the festival’s first satellite site.
Contemporary street artist Anthony Lister will display temporary, inflatable sculptures around Benalla.
Wall to Wall Festival is supported by Creative Victoria, Visit Victoria and Benalla Rural City Council.
