Owner of Miss Naked Cakes on South Street, Clare Doolan, says it’s been great to see more people taking to the street.
“We’re loving it, we haven’t really been impacted a great deal since the roadworks last year but we’ve noticed an increase in foot traffic today so that’s great,” she said.
“I feel sorry for the other businesses down there but we haven’t been impacted that much by the closure of the intersection, but in saying that today we’ve noticed a bit of an increase so it’s good.”

Although there had been a slight delay in the reopening of the intersection, Mrs Doolan says it didn’t cause too much concern.
“It is what it is with these sorts of things, you expect that there’s going to be hiccups along the way.
“For what we’ve been through I think it’ll be well worth it in the end so we’ve just got to ride the storm.”
Wodonga Mayor Anna Speedie addressed the reopening of the intersection at a press conference on Tuesday, as well as the progress of the works continuing to be done along High Street.
“Those businesses on the northern end of our High Street have remained open, we’ve kept the footpath open, we know that they’ve had some challenging times and we thank all of our community for continuing to support those businesses and we look forward to opening the rest of the road.
“We are on schedule, we are on budget and we are on time so I think that’s fantastic news.
“If I could wave a magic wand over night, don’t you bet I would.
“This is about our community also taking some ownership and being supportive of their local businesses, we’re doing all that we can.”
