With the Bulls chasing a hat-trick of flags, Lyons shapes as another star in their already potent backline.
He spent last year with rivals Kangaroos.
New Southcity captain-coach Kyle McCarthy is delighted to have Lyons back at the club.
“It’s unreal,” McCarthy said.
“He’s got blistering pace that is just unteachable.
“He’s been around the club so long that he’s like family so we love having him back.”
Lyons was part of Southcity’s 2016 premiership before switching to their crosstown rivals.
However he failed to reach his normal heights in part due to injury.
In a worry for rival cubs, Mick Glanville has also returned from injury.
Southcity will be one of the teams to beat in this year’s West Wyalong Knockout which starts on Friday night.
