Chalmers said Norm Wighton’s side watched the younger brigade train on Thursday and soon became seriously underwhelmed.
“There is a respect for their abilities and (limited) experience but everyone knows that the present CAW standard wouldn’t hold a candle to the halcyon ABCA days,” Chalmers said.
"’Mirrors’ (Kane) Arendarcikas has a solid pedigree but his standard ball is nowadays so nude it's indecent.
“Matty Crawshaw has great leadership qualities but seriously underbowls himself, James Kreutzberger is praying for rain, Sam Azzi would improve just from a haircut and Dean Nicholson is as loose as his bung shoulder.”
The Past Players will be captained by Dean Carroll with Graeme Brady, Cameron Furze and Heath Naughton in the mix for the new ball.
The match starts at 12.30pm.
