Albury-based freelance television stylist Lauren Bush said she expected many racegoers to sport ultra violet, which was Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2018.
“I think we’ll see lots of purple but also still see lots of pinks and reds and pastels,” she said.
Having worked on myriad Australian reality television shows including nine seasons of My Kitchen Rules, Bush compered Get Race Ready at Murray Arts Museum Albury (MAMA) on Wednesday night.
She said flower crowns were trending for young women while millinery still suited the more mature racegoer.
“Flower crowns suit younger girls; (Wodonga business) Thistle & Fern uses lots of bold autumn colours which can make a standout look to finish your outfit,” she said.
“Boater hats, turbans and veils will be popular in millinery.”
Bush said autumn race meetings were more modest events with less skin shown.
She said some traditions had evolved over time.
“The days of having your shoes and bag all matching your outfit have gone,” Bush said.
“You still should tie them back to your outfit or millinery in some way though.
“Statement bags will be on trend this season.”
Participating businesses at Get Race Ready were Black Salt Boutique, Lookbook Boutique, Tania Scott Designs (millinery), Kookinuts, Thistle & Fern and Allure Lash and Beauty Bar.
The MAMA foyer was styled by Gather Vintage Hire into a stylish catwalk for the fashion parade.
